This can take the form of group or individual work. Naturally, participants receive precise details and information about the scope and requirements for the work in advance. In individual cases also assessments can be accomplished for evaluation.

The presence/attendance phases occur roughly once a month. The precise dates can be obtained from the schedules on the program detail pages or the download area.

What time loads should I expect?

In addition to the interactive attendance days, above all the preparation and evaluation work relating to these attendance phases are important for both learning success and the practice-oriented implementation of the theme blocks.

Following the completion of a master’s degree (MIM/MBA) in the course of extra-occupational studies can one undertake a doctorate/PhD?

Two qualification routes are recognized under Austrian educational law:

  • The completion of a full-time course of study in the form of bachelor, master’s and doctoral/PhD studies. This training provides professional qualifications and also represents the keystone for an academic career.
  • Practice-oriented training in the form of a master’s degree, e.g. MBA obtained during extra-occupational studies. As a rule, a degree obtained as a full-time student serves as a basis for such postgraduate courses (generally a bachelor’s degree as a minimum level).

Although the master’s degrees in both qualification routes partly possess the same wording, from an educational law standpoint they are evaluated differently. Accordingly, following the obtainment of a master’s degree during extra-occupational studies (MIM/MBA) it is not possible to complete a doctoral/PhD program unless the preconditions have already been fulfilled previously. However, in some cases a master’s degree derived from extra-occupational studies can represent the prerequisite qualification for admission to certain commercial activities and thus lead to special, academically based professional qualifications for the private labor market.
